Medical expenses

General Practitioner.

A Doctor specializing in a particular domain. Specialists usually charge extra ("Depasement d'Honoraires") for their expertise’s.

Régime Obligatoire. Minimum state social health cover that will take care of the medical expences in case of illness, accident or maternity. The normal "Régime Obligatoire", equivalent to the NHS is called CPAM. The "Régime Obligatoire" for self-employed workers ("TNS") is the RSI. As its name indicates, it is OBLIGATORY and must be replaced by PRIVATE FULL COVER if other "Régime Obligatoire" possibilities are refused or taken away. Régime Obligatoire is often referred to as the "RO" on documents regarding reimbursements.

Regime Sociaux des Independants French Social Security for self-employed workers. NB. RSI will not reimburse medical treatment. Reimbursements come from a third-party that you choose upon registration of your activity.
